Vessel was requisitioned from Brilliant Transportation by the War Shipping Administration under a time charter agreement; it was simultaneously time chartered to Socony-Vacuum Oil Company.
Event: Total Loss

The vessel was struck and critically damaged by a torpedo from a German submarine; although initially an attempt was made to tow the damaged vessel to shore, this was abandoned when it began to further break up and sank.
