State / Regional Activities

State and regional activities are a crucial part of the Ballast Water issue.  Although there is a strong interest in implementing a national program that all of the states will buy into, there is a lot of interest in what impact aquatic nuisance species will have on local waters.  In this section we will provide updated information on state and regional activities.

Washington State Senate Bill 6538 - June 2002 - This bill passed the legislature and establishes a ballast water work group as part of its ballast water reporting and standards program.
