News release from DOT Secretary Ray LaHood
Accountable for the oversight and administration of the United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA), in May 2009, U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Secretary, Ray LaHood directed the Maritime Administration to convene an independent “Blue Ribbon” advisory panel of senior executives to “put a fresh set of eyes” on the Academy’s Capital Improvement Plan and its investment priorities.
