HR (Payroll):  CASTLE – Disaster Recovery for Hurricane Katrina (email from Michael Lester dated Tuesday, August 30, 2005, 11:48 am)

Facilities:

The federal owned buildings in downtown New Orleans other than the Customs House are open to resume operations.  Specifically, these buildings are:  Hale Boggs FB/CT, John Minor Wisdom United States Courthouse, and Hebert Federal Building.

All the CR employees in NOLA should report for duty to Hale Boggs Building by next Monday (10/24/2005).  All the employees who can not report to work should contact their respective supervisor.

The City of Beaumont announced that all citizens are allowed to return to the City.  Water and sewer is working city wide and the water is safe to drink.  Power remains an issue in some locations.

Calcasieu parish (Lake Charles) has a dawn to dusk curfew.  Those residents without power and water are still in a “look and leave” status to assess their property and gather needed belongings and return to temporary residences.

Shipping:  The Jones Act, requiring U.S.-flag coastwise qualified vessels, has been waived for petroleum and petroleum products from 1 Sept to 19 Sept because of Katrina.  Also, distributions from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve will not have to go on coastwise vessels.
