In accordance with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995, the Maritime Administration (MARAD) has announced its intention to request approval for a three-year extension of three currently approved information collections.

 

They are:

 

Ø     Intermodal Access to Shallow Draft Ports and Terminals Survey -- This collection will allow MARAD to access the magnitude and nature of impediments to efficient intermodal connections to shallow draft marine ports and terminals and provide information on correcting deficiencies.  Respondents are officials at the Nation’s key shallow draft marine ports and terminals.

Ø     Title XI Obligation Guarantees -- This collection is necessary for MARAD officials to evaluate an applicant’s project and capabilities, make the required determinations, and administrator any agreements executed upon approval of loan guarantees.  Respondents are individuals/businesses interested in obtaining loan guarantees for construction or reconstruction of vessels as well as businesses interested in shipyard modernization and improvements.

Ø     Application for Construction Reserve Fund and Annual Statements -- The information is required in order for MARAD to determine whether the applicant is qualified for the benefits of the CRF program.  Respondents are owners or operators of vessels in the domestic or foreign commerce.

The Maritime Administration (MARAD) has published a notice in the Federal Register inviting public comment on three separate waiver applications under MARAD's Small Passenger Vessel Waiver Program. The following are the foreign-built, or vessels with lost documentation, that have applied to carry 12-passengers or less in the domestic trade:

Ø     IMGOIN                                               Docket Number:  MARAD 2005 20526

 

MARAD has the authority to issue a waiver of the U.S.-build requirements of the coastwise trade laws under certain circumstances as provided by P.L. 105-383 as amended.

The Maritime Administration (MARAD) has approved two applications under Section 9 of the Shipping Act, 1916, as amended.  They include:

 

Ø     Sterling Equipment, Inc., Boston, MA, has received approval for the sell the 2,576-gross-ton deck cargo barge CAPE CHARLES to Industrial Transport Ltd., a Trinidad corporation, and transfer said Vessel to Trinidad registry and flag.

 

The vessel was built in 1977 in Harvey, LA.

 

Ø     South Wind Fishing Corporation, Rancho Santa Fe, CA has received approval to transfer the 1,387-gross-ton fishing vessel BOLD ADVENTURESS to Nicaragua registry and flag, without change in the U.S. ownership of said Vessel.

 

The vessel was built in 1990 in Tacoma, WA.
